This Week in Chester History…

In 1938, the Chester Township Committee heard testimony for and against the renewal of the Old Mill Tavern’s liquor license. The Milldale establishment was owned by Amzi Fleming. Complaints against mainly concerned the noise of cars leaving the tavern between 2:00 a.m. and 3:00 a.m., as well as horn blowing and loud singing by departing patrons. Fleming received his renewal.
