This Week in Chester History…

In 1938, petitions were filed for nominations to Chester’s public offices. For the Borough, Democrat Mayor Daniel Budd would be challenged by Republican John Steinberg. John P. Papp and Andrew Wyckoff (Dems) would face off against Robert Call and David A. Saslow (Repubs) for the two three-year-term Councilman seats. On the Township side, Republican William H. Woodruff would run against Democrat Clyde G. Hopler for the three-year-term Township Committee opening. Source: The Mendham-Chester Tribune
