This Week in Chester History…

In 1938, in an effort to eliminate “unnecessary taxes” and work for the “betterment of consumer conditions in Chester and all of New Jersey,” the Chester chapter of the Emergency Consumers Tax Council was formed. The officers elected were Mrs. A.F. Callahan as chair, Miss Sara Stone as vice-chair, and Mrs. Karl E. Tiffenbach as secretary. Source: Mendham-Chester Tribune
