This Week in Chester History…

In 1937, the previous week’s Beer-Barnes Circus proved to be too much of a temptation for two Chester boys. According to the Mendham-Chester Tribune, “one young moppet was hastily shipped home [via local constables] accompanied by two chocolate bars. From the other’s parents came a rebuff: ‘We don’t care where he went, nor if he comes back.’ But return he did, and with a very thick magazine in his trousers.”
