This Week in Chester History…

In 1937, a “slight automobile” accident occurred on West Main Street near the center of town. Mendham’s Ernest LeMonnier’s car was hit by Irvington resident “Ricco,” who misunderstood LeMonnier’s friendly wave to mean that he was signaling to turn up Mountainside Avenue. The cars were damaged by Ricco’s attempt to pass on the right, but no charges were filed. Source: Mendham-Chester Tribune
