This Week in Chester History…

In 1960, the Observer-Tribune announced that July 1 was the deadline for all N.J. passenger cars to display the new “straw and black” license plates (as opposed to the plates with the black background and yellow letters and numbers). As of June 30th of that year, 15,100 vehicle owners had yet to receive their replacement plates.
