This Week in Chester History…

In 1958, the Mendham-Chester Tribune reported that George H. Treadway had died after a long illness at the age of 78. His wife, Ada Gray, predeceased him. According to the U.S. Census, Treadway served as a Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad fireman from 1899-1948. He was survived by three sons: Alfred, Arthur, and Irving; and two daughters: Ms. Edna Zanotti and Mrs. Maude Fischer. Treadway is interred in Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
