This Week in Chester History…
In 1956, the Board of Education accepted with regrets the resignation of its president, Bob Kirsten. Kirsten said he must devote more time to his duties with the U.S. Coast Guard. He was promoted to Commander in April, and previously served with the Coast Guard for 15 years. Mrs. Janet Stebbins, formerly vice-president, was elected president, and Walter Serle was elected as vice-president of the board. Source: The Mendham-Chester Tribune
