Chester Postcards, Introduction
Chester Centre
Description
Chester Centre, Chester, N.J., postcard, undated.
Local resident Jack Rademacher lent a portion of his Chester postcard collection to the Chester Library for the purpose of digitization, and to increase access to these documents of the area’s history. The Local History Librarian made digital copies of the postcards, printed facsimiles for patrons to use, and created this exhibit to honor Rademacher’s wishes.
Many of the postcards were printed in Chester by local printer George E. Conover. In the cases where postcards have notes written on the reverse, those will be included, as well. In most cases, the information in the description was adapted from Joan Case’s two books: Chester, Images of America and Chester, Then & Now.
All requests to reproduce, publish, quote from, or otherwise use collection materials must be submitted in writing to the Local History Librarian, Chester Public Library, 250 W. Main Street, Chester, NJ 07930.
