Description

Cross Roads Schoolhouse, Chester, N.J., Erected September 15, 1830, postcard, 1915.

Built in 1830, the stone schoolhouse served as Chester’s School District Number Two. During its tenure as a school (now it is a residence), the building also saw the Congregational Church as tenants of its upper story.

This postcard was addressed to Nettie Karff at 185 North 16th Street in East Orange, N.J.. Dorothy writes, “Dear Nettie, When we arrive home from Chester Monday, heard a little news, I almost came in when they told me it, will write you a letter and tell you all about it. Dorothy.”
