At the time of this postcard’s mailing, Crystal Lake was a spring-fed pond on Oakdale Road. Ice for local residents was obtained from the water in winter. Additionally, Chesterites enjoyed swimming and fishing in the water during warm months, and skating on the ice during the winter.

Lizzie Van Ness mailed this postcard to Miss Loretta Ford at 112 Washington Street in Morristown, N.J.
