Memories of Chester, Chester Cornet Band

Chester Cornet Band

Chester Cornet Band

Description

In the video above, Herman Rademacher talks about the Chester Cornet Band and the Rockefeller family. He mentions that many family members participated in the band, which played at all of the local ceremonies in the early 1900s.

The image shown below the video is a 1912 postcard of the Chester Cornet Band in their uniforms, holding their brass instruments. The big bass and snare drums are placed on the ground on their sides in front of the band. The bass drum has the title of the band painted on it around the edge of the skin. The band members, all male, are standing on three different levels of a bandstand.
