In the 1960s, Greenidge (1905-2002) collected the stories of Chester from its elderly residents. She lived in the area for a relatively short time, but published Chester, New Jersey, A Scrapbook of History in 1974, five years after she moved back to Chatham. To research the book, she spoke with many members of the local community. These individuals shared with her the stories they had heard of Chester’s earliest days, as well as events they had experienced.
