This Week in Chester History…

WEST AM radio station’s Gerry Montana and Her Cowboys hosted an amateur night at Chester Borough Hall in 1938, reported the Mendham-Chester Tribune. First prize was the opportunity to broadcast on one of her programs. The winners were The Cornhuskers, comprised of Ellsworth Masker and Ralph Smith of Chester and Al Duerr and Charles Ullick of Succasunna.


This Week in Chester History…

On May 6, 1938, The Mendham-Chester Tribune announced that all local groups were permitted to use the Borough Hall for social an organizational purposes. Mayor Daniel S. Budd passed the motion allowing any of the various clubs to utilize the building free of charge.
