In 1960, Chester Township School held its annual Book Fair. The three-day affair featured a large children’s books display of items that could be ordered through the E.M. In 1960, the Observer-Tribune announced that Chester and Long Valley would be converting to dial telephone service so that their citizens could dial station to station distance calls as well as local calls without operator assistance. A dialing demonstration was later held in the Chester Township School.
