This Week in Chester History…

In 1936, the Mendham-Chester Tribune announced that the paper’s editor and publisher, C. Fred Westin, married Miss Flora Harris, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Raymond V. Harris of East Savannah, Georgia. The marriage took place at Christ Church in Savannah, and the reception was held at DeSoto Hotel. The bride and groom each had six attendants. The couple honeymooned in Nassau and later took up residence in Mendham, on Hilltop, directly opposite Mendham School.
