This Week in Chester History…
In 1937, 150 Chester Democrats held their last dance of the season at Milltown Hall. Entertainment Committee members Everett Skellenger (chair), Sara Thompson, Edith Rinaldy, Irene Brodeen, and J. Cecil Hoffman were celebrated for their efforts. Shirley Philhower of Mount Rose Road collected the door prize, while Mrs. LeRoy Philhower won the Ladies’ Prize and George McMann took home the Men’s. The Rockafeller Family Orchestra entertained the Democratic Club of Chester at Milltown Hall, in 1937. Everett Skellenger was chairman of the entertainment committee. Square dances as well as modern stepping were the order of the evening. Source: Mendham-Chester Tribune
