This Week in Chester History…

The Chester Borough Council, in 1937, told Mayor Daniel S. Budd to appoint a zoning committee for the Borough. Residents of Chester who wished to protect the value of their real estate holdings had complained about road stands and other businesses that had been established in residential sections of town. This Week in Chester History…

In 1956, the Chester Township Committee appropriated $3,000 for a new ambulance for the First Aid and Rescue Squad. It also set aside $34,500 to cover the costs of preparing a tax map and revaluing all real estate in the township. Source: Mendham-Chester Tribune
